Infernape is one of this meta's biggest threats. With access to good moves this early on, it outclasses majority of the other physical fire types sweepers. With great offensive stats and an even better speed stat, Infernape is a force to recognize.

Pokemon Name Item: Ability: Blaze Nature: Naive EVs: 252 Spd 268 Atk 88 SpAtk Move 1: Grass Knot Move 2: Overheat Move 3: Mach Punch/Taunt Move 4: Close Combat |
Infernape's strongest move will be the STAB Close Combat, along with the other STAB move Overheat. Grass Knot is a necessary move needed to hit the likes of Azumarill who like to switch into Infernape's Overheat. Overheat can take out Pokemon like Durant, who can still deliver a lot of damage with a resisted Iron Head. Taunt can be used to stop Pokemon from setting up, or disrupt walls and stall Pokemon alike. You can also used Mach Punch if you wish to get a priority STAB move in to finish off a weakened Pokemon such as Greninja, who can still outspeed you without.
88 SpA Infernape Grass Knot (60 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Azumarill: 62-74 (29.9 - 35.7%) -- 24% chance to 3HKO- A decent amount to chip off when Azumarill switches in.
88 SpA Infernape Overheat vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Durant: 580-688 (436 - 517.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Checks and Counters
Counters: There isn't really an exact type of counter for Infernape, but a select few Pokemon like Azumarill and Talonflame are the biggest threats. Still being able to take Infernape's Grass Knot and countering with an Aqua Tail. Talonflame resists all of Infernape's moves and can counter with a STAB Acrobatics.
